About Us

The Team...

Janine Peart: Manager and Coach

My name is Janine and I have been coaching gymnastics in Bishops Stortford Primary Schools for 7 years (and have taught over 2,000 children in the area). I have been running ‘after-school’ clubs as well as spending time with teachers to improve the provision of gymnastics lessons in the curriculum.

I am also a qualified Pre-School Gymnastics Coach and have run many classes for Under 5s. I like nothing better than jumping around the gym to ‘Flippy Floppy Scarecrow’!

More recently I have gained a qualification in Cheerleading and have been responsible for running inter-school competitions at Birchwood School.

I have a son aged 15 and a daughter, aged 12 who is a fanatical gymnast herself. Therefore, I can totally appreciate what parents want from a gymnastics class and love the gym on London Road as it has a large glass window so that parents can see exactly what they are paying for.

Karen Perkins: Manager & Coach

My name is Karen and I am a Level 2 qualified Gymnastics Coach and my claim to fame is that I coached a primary school team to win a National Final for 2 consecutive years. A real achievement!

I have been married to Andrew for 23 years and have a 18 year old son Lewis, who enjoys all sports.

As a Mum we want to give our children the best start in life by choosing activities that will shape their future. Gymnastics instilled the love of exercise in me, but also determination and perseverance. I used to train 4 nights a week and made long term friendships. I am passionate about creating the best environment for our children to grow.

Wendy: Head Coach

My name is Wendy and I joined owners, Karen and Janine when the club opened. I lead the coaching team and design the lesson plans ensuring all our gymnasts stay motivated, have fun and achieve in their chosen sport. I am a High Performance Coach in women's Artistic Gymnastics, and Level 1 Pre-School Coach. I got involved in elite gymnastics in my childhood and completed my coaching qualifications 20 years ago. I have mentored many prospective coaches and coached hundreds of gymnasts in my lifetime to achieve their best, from entry level to national elite status. The last 10 years I have focused on the developmental aspect of the sport, enjoying helping children from baby age, right the way through to teens! See you at the gym. :-)

Niki: Pre-School & Party Manager

My name is Niki and I joined Stortford Gymnastics in September 2016 as the Pre-School and Party Coordinator.  My role within the club is to take the stresses away from parents and co-ordinate fun and active Birthday Parties. I also devise session plans and run classes for our Leaping Lions (aged 3-5 independent classes) and Courageous Cats (aged 18 months - 3 years with parent/guardian).

My background from a young age, was Artistic Gymnastics until around the age 11, I then progressed into competitive Trampolining as a gymnast and as an Advanced Coach until the age of 28! I had a brief gap during 1999/2000 where I joined the circus and performed in the Millennium Dome, now known as the O2.

I have two children and it was while watching my youngest in his Pre-School classes that I decided to change career, re-trained and well the rest is history as I'm here working with all of you!  I'm looking forward to getting stuck in and helping your little ones learn and explore through play, and gain confidence and new skills along the way.
